Wild Roses Painted Victorian Tile (pg310)
A beautiful Victorian tile which is hand painted with the prettiest pink wild roses. The roses and buds are utterly delightful in appearance and the quality of the work is of the very highest standard. The softly crackled background of the tile enhances this beauty. The tile is set into its original ornate vintage gesso covered frame.
The frame measures approximately 24.5cm by 41cm. There are some pieces of gesso missing from the frame and the tile has age-crackling to the glaze. The rear has the original paper backing which has some tearing to it.
This wonderful painted tile makes a lovely alternative to a painting. It may well have been intended to form part of a fire surround as such decorative tiles were used on fireplaces at that time and are now highly sought after.
