The Prettiest 1940s Garden Watercolour (pg476)
This is a delightfully pretty vintage watercolour painting dating to the 1940s. It depicts an English garden with borders abundant with cottage garden favourites such as hollyhocks, delphiniumas and lilies, all in the most appealing shades of pink and blue, with touches of yellow and white and plenty of lush green foliage. The path leads us to a gate and a country house, with trees and a blue sky dappled with fluffy clouds. The painting is set within its original card mount and wooden frame. The painting is unsigned.
A supremely appealing painting for your English cottage style interior.
The frame is approximately 18.5" by 23". The mount has age-related discolouration and the frame has a little movement which I think is usual when this type of narrow frame holds a large painting with glass. The watercolour is in excellent condition with the colours as lively as the day it was painted.
